See what’s covered

You are covered for medical treatment up to a total of €1,000,000, including doctor’s visits (outpatient) and hospitalization (inpatient stays) at public and private doctors and hospitals.

You are covered for ambulance emergency transport to the nearest hospital that fits your medical needs. This includes road, air, water, and rail vehicles.

You are covered for doctor consultations to evaluate your symptoms, including telemedicine services.
This is especially helpful when traveling in areas with limited healthcare access.

You are covered for prescribed medical examinations (like CT, ECG, EKG, MRI, PET, X‑ray), procedures (from minor treatment to major surgery), medication (like antibiotics & painkillers), materials and devices (like crutches, rental walkers & wheelchair).

Our 24/7 emergency assistance manages your inpatient treatment, organizes payments directly to your hospital, and carefully follows your treatment to ensure a high quality of care.

You are covered for almost all sports and activities, including climbing, cycling, diving, hiking, kitesurfing, mountain biking, martial arts, motor vehicle operations, parachuting, skydiving, skiing, snowboarding, and surfing.

You are covered for a medically necessary return transport to your home country.
This includes transport by any suitable vehicle, including ambulance and specialized worldwide air ambulance service.

If you are hospitalized with a life-threatening emergency, you are covered to have one family member visit you.
This includes the costs of economy-class travel and standard accommodation, up to €5,000 per insurance case.

You are covered for up to 6 prescribed physiotherapy sessions per insurance case.

If needed as a result of an accident, you are covered for basic dental care up to €1,000 per insurance case.

How Genki Traveler works
Genki Traveler is a monthly subscription for up to 12 months.
You can sign up from home or while traveling abroad.
Your insurance cover starts on the day you choose.
You pay for the first month of insurance cover when you sign-up.
After the first month of cover, we charge your card automatically every month.
You can cancel your insurance anytime after the first month.
If you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle, any remaining days are refunded automatically.
If you do not cancel, your insurance will end automatically after 12 months.
Good to know
You pay the first €50 per insurance case and the insurer pays the remainder.
For example, treatment for a dislocated shoulder in Bali costs €1,700. You pay €50 and your insurance reimburses the remaining €1,650.
There is no deductible for inpatient stays.
If you are already outside of your home country when your insurance starts and you have no prior coverage, only medical emergencies are covered for the first 14 days.
You are not covered for health conditions that showed symptoms, were diagnosed, treated, or medically consulted within one year before your insurance starts.
You are not covered for chronic conditions, congenital disorders, or physical malformations you knew about before your insurance starts.
If you are brought back to your home country at the expense of the insurer (repatriation), your insurance ends immediately after you arrive at your destination. Health insurance or public health care in your home country will take over. You can decide to stay abroad.

Do you have any questions?
Genki Traveler is available for people from any country, up to age 69 at the start of the insurance cover.
Up to 12 months. Genki Traveler is for trips, not for long-term coverage. Make sure you have something to go back to when it ends, like your national health system or private health insurance at home. That way, any ongoing treatment is taken care of.
or emergencies only. Once you’ve been abroad for at least 4 weeks, you’re covered for emergencies during the first 6 weeks of each stay at home.
Yes, for emergencies during the first 7 days of each stay. You can add more coverage for an extra cost, either when you sign up or for future months of your subscription.
No. Genki Traveler is for the unexpected. If, by medical standards, a procedure can safely wait without a real risk of complications or your condition getting worse, it isn’t covered. This also applies if you’re already in hospital and the procedure can be rescheduled after you leave.
What counts is how urgent the treatment is. It doesn’t depend on your travel plans, or on whether the treatment is medically necessary in general. A doctor recommending treatment now doesn’t automatically make it urgent.
Rule of thumb: if it can safely wait, it’s not covered.
Send our insurer, Squarelife, an itemized cost estimate at least 5 days before treatment starts. If you don’t, only 50% of the covered costs are reimbursed. This doesn’t apply to hospital stays our emergency assistance team is already managing.
You are not covered for:
Dental health care (except for accidents)
Alternative health care
Mental health care
Maternity care
Rehabilitative care
Preventive health care
