Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies. This page explains what they are, which ones we use, and how you stay in control.

The short version

Some cookies are always on. They keep the site secure, keep you logged in and remember your cookie choice.
Everything else is your choice. We only use analytics, chat and advertising cookies after you say yes.
You can change your mind anytime. Use cookie settings. If you switch something off, we delete the related cookies we can reach.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files your browser stores when you visit a website. We also use two similar browser features, Local Storage and Session Storage. They work like cookies but aren't sent with every request. On this page, "cookies" covers all three.

First-party cookies are stored under a Genki domain, such as genki.world. Third-party cookies are stored under another company's domain.

Your choice

When you first visit a Genki site, we ask you to choose. You can accept all cookies, accept only the necessary ones, or decide per category:

Necessary: security, login, payments and remembering your choice. Always on.
Analytics: understanding how our site is used, so we can improve it. Off until you allow it.
Functional: live chat with our support team. Off until you allow it.
Marketing: knowing which ads and partner links bring people to us, and showing our ads on other platforms. Off until you allow it.

Your choice applies to all Genki sites, such as genki.world and its subdomains. We remember it for 12 months and then ask again.

The live chat needs all three optional categories (Analytics, Functional and Marketing), because our chat provider uses them. Without them, you can still reach us by email or WhatsApp.

Legal basis. We use optional cookies only with your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Necessary cookies don't need consent because the site can't work without them (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). For those, we rely on our contract with you or our legitimate interest in running a secure site (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Withdrawing your consent doesn't affect anything that happened before.

Partners outside the European Union. Some of our partners process data in the USA. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses. You'll find details in our Privacy Policy.

Necessary cookies

These keep the site working and secure. They're always on.

Genki

cookie_consent: remembers your cookie choice. Kept for 12 months.
genki:consent-sweep and genki:consent-sweep-leftover: remember that cookies you declined were already cleaned up. Kept until deleted.
access, accessToken and user: keep you logged in. Kept until you log out.¹
_gk_sec_…: remembers that you dismissed a security warning about a browser extension. Kept for 7 days.
genki:pulse-persistence-degraded-…: avoids sending the same technical report twice. Kept until you close the tab.
genki:intercom-identity-verification-token: securely identifies you to our chat, once you've allowed chat cookies. Kept until it expires.
__Host-consultation_…: lets you continue the consultation you started, and keeps others from reading your answers. Kept until you close your browser.
genki:consultation-…: remembers your consultation and your place in it in this tab, so reloading and the back button work. Kept until you close the tab.

Cloudflare

cf_clearance, cf_chl_…, __cf_bm and __cfseq…: protect the site from bots and attacks. Kept for 30 minutes to 1 year.¹
__cflb, __cfruid and _cfuvid: balance traffic across servers and limit abuse. Kept for up to 24 hours.¹
zaraz-consent: passes your cookie choice on to Cloudflare, which loads our analytics and marketing tools. Kept for 12 months.
cf_zaraz_client: technical cookie used by Cloudflare to load our tools. It stores no information about you. Kept for 12 months.

Stripe

__stripe_mid and __stripe_sid: prevent payment fraud. Kept for 1 year and 30 minutes.

Heyflow

heyflow-session-id:…: keeps your progress in a form. Kept until you close the tab.

Analytics cookies

These help us understand which pages people use, where they get stuck and what we should improve. This includes session recordings, in which sensitive data is hidden.

If you decline analytics, we still count visits anonymously. Nothing is stored on your device, and you can't be recognized on your next visit. With your consent, we can recognize your browser across visits.

PostHog

ph_…: recognizes your browser across visits and pages. Kept for 1 year.

Functional cookies

These run the live chat with our support team and keep your conversation, so it's still there on the next page or your next visit.

Intercom

intercom-device-id-…: recognizes your device and prevents abuse. Kept for 9 months.
intercom-id-…: recognizes you in the chat. Kept for 9 months.
intercom-session-…: keeps access to your earlier conversations. Kept for 1 week.
intercom.intercom-state…: remembers whether the chat is open and what's unread. Kept until deleted.
intercom.played-notifications: makes sure a chat notification sound plays only once. Kept until you close the tab.
ably-transport-preference: remembers the best connection type for the chat. Kept until deleted.

Marketing cookies

These tell us which ad, campaign or partner link brought you to Genki. They also let advertising platforms see whether their ads worked, and the platforms may use them to show you Genki ads. These platforms may combine this with other information they have about you.

Genki

attribution: remembers which campaign or partner link brought you here. Kept for 1 year.

Google Ads

_gcl_… and _gac_…: link your visit to a Google ad you clicked. Kept for 90 days.

Meta (Facebook, Instagram)

_fbp and _fbc: link your visit to a Meta ad you clicked. Kept for 90 days.
fr (on facebook.com): set by Meta to show you ads and measure them. Kept for 90 days.
multiFbc, lastExternalReferrer and lastExternalReferrerTime: remember recent ad clicks and where you came from. Kept until deleted.¹

Good to know

Not every cookie appears on every page. Stripe cookies only appear at checkout and ad cookies only for platforms we actually advertise on.

Your browser may shorten lifetimes. Safari, for example, deletes some cookies after 7 days.

Cookies on other companies' domains. If you switch a category off, we delete its cookies on Genki domains. Cookies a provider stored on its own domain, such as facebook.com, can only be deleted in your browser settings.

Blocking cookies in your browser works too, but the site may not work properly without the necessary ones.
