Genki Community Event Terms

Last updated: 16.10.2026

These terms apply to every community event, meetup, activation, run, workshop, recovery session, meal or game that Genki organizes or co-organizes, and to activities Genki runs as part of someone else's event (each an "Event"). For events that Genki only sponsors, the organizer's terms apply. By registering for, checking in to or taking part in an Event, you agree to these terms. Event-specific rules (for example for a game with a prize) are published on the Event page and form part of these terms. The version of these terms published when you register applies to that Event.

1. Why we do this

Genki is health insurance for people who live and work around the world. Our community events exist to bring nomads together, to make it easy to meet people in a new place and to encourage healthy habits: moving, recovering and sharing a good meal. They are not sales events. Nobody has to be a Genki customer to join, and nobody will be pressured to become one. Genki team members may be present and will say who they are.

2. Who we are and our role

The Events are offered by Genki UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Siegburger Str. 231, 50679 Cologne, Germany ("Genki", "we", "us").

Our role differs from Event to Event and is stated on each Event page:

  • Organizer: Genki plans and hosts the Event itself.
  • Co-organizer: Genki hosts the Event together with a partner. The partner can be an organization (for example, a coliving operator, a run club or a community association) or an individual local host who runs the Event on site with Genki's support. The partner is responsible for the parts it runs. The partner's own house rules or terms may apply in addition.
  • Activation at a partner's event: Genki organizes its own activity (for example, a recovery session) as part of a larger event run by someone else. Genki is responsible only for its own activity; the main event's organizer and its terms apply to everything else.
  • Sponsor: Genki only pays for or contributes something (for example, food, drinks or a session) to an event run by someone else. The organizer of that event is responsible for it, and its own terms apply.

Where an Event takes place at a third-party venue (for example, a restaurant, a spa or a coliving house), the venue operator is responsible for its premises, equipment, staff and services. The venue's own terms, waivers and house rules apply in addition to these terms; please complete any check-in or waiver the venue asks for. Genki does not collect or manage venue waivers on the venue's behalf.

3. Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older to register for or take part in an Event.
  • Places are limited and allocated in the order of registration unless the Event page says otherwise. Registration is personal and cannot be transferred. Bring others only if the Event page allows it. If you can't come, please cancel so someone else can have the spot.
  • Participation is free unless the Event page says otherwise. No Genki insurance policy or other product is required, and holding one gives no advantage.
  • Tell us about any access needs when registering, and we'll do what we can.
  • We may refuse entry to, or ask to leave, anyone who endangers themselves or others, is visibly intoxicated, disrupts the Event or breaches these terms or the venue's rules.

4. How we treat each other

Our Events are open to people of all backgrounds, and we want everyone to feel welcome and safe. By taking part, you agree to:

  • treat other participants, hosts, venue staff and locals with respect;
  • not harass, discriminate against or intimidate anyone. This includes unwelcome sexual attention and unwanted physical contact;
  • respect other people's boundaries, including when they don't want to be photographed. Ask before posting photos of others;
  • not use Events to pitch, recruit or sell to other participants;
  • respect the venue, the neighborhood and local customs, and leave places as you found them.

If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, tell a Genki team member on site or email legal@genki.team. We take every report seriously. We may ask anyone who breaches these rules to leave the Event and may exclude them from future Events.

5. Your health and taking part at your own risk

Some Events involve physical activity (for example running, walking, hiking or exercising) or exposure to cold and heat (for example ice baths, cold plunges, saunas or heated pools). These activities carry risks, including injury, cardiovascular strain, hypothermia, overheating, fainting and, in rare cases, serious harm.

Please only take part if:

  • you are in a suitable state of health for the activity;
  • you have consulted a doctor beforehand if you are unsure whether the activity is safe for you, in particular if you are pregnant, have a heart, circulatory, respiratory or blood-pressure condition, epilepsy, or any other condition or medication that may be affected by exertion, cold or heat;
  • you are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

You take part voluntarily and at your own risk. Please follow the instructions of the Genki team, the partner and the venue staff, stop immediately if you feel unwell, and take care of your own equipment, clothing and personal belongings.

Unless the Event page expressly says so, Genki does not provide medical supervision, first aid staff, coaching or safety support. Routes for runs and walks use public roads and paths; you are responsible for complying with traffic rules. In an emergency we may call local emergency services. Please make sure you have valid health or travel insurance covering the country you are in.

Food and drinks: Where food or drinks are provided, they are prepared by the venue or a third-party supplier, also where Genki pays for them. The venue or supplier is responsible for the quality and safety of what it serves; for example, if food served at a venue causes food poisoning, the venue or supplier that prepared it is responsible. Please check ingredients with the venue staff if you have an allergy or dietary requirement. Alcoholic drinks are only served to people of legal drinking age under local law; please drink responsibly.

6. Liability

Genki is liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for culpable injury to life, body or health, and where liability cannot be limited under mandatory law.

In cases of slight negligence, Genki is liable only for breach of an obligation that is essential for the proper conduct of the Event and on which you may regularly rely, and only for damage that is typical and foreseeable at the time of the Event.

Otherwise, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Genki is not liable for any damage or loss arising from your participation, in particular for damage caused by the venue, a partner, another participant or any third-party service, or for loss of or damage to your personal belongings. These limitations also apply in favor of Genki's managing directors, employees, freelancers and agents.

Genki's role as sponsor of an event organized by someone else does not make Genki responsible for that event. Where Genki runs an activity as part of someone else's event, Genki is responsible only for that activity.

You are responsible for damage you cause to the venue, other participants or third parties.

7. Photos and video

Genki, or a photographer on Genki's behalf, takes photos and video at Events to document them and to report on and promote Genki's community activities, for example on Genki's social media channels, website and newsletter. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in documenting and presenting our Events.

  • If you prefer not to appear, please tell the photographer and step out of the shot while photos or videos are being taken. We will not deliberately feature anyone who has told us they do not want to be photographed.
  • You can object later. If you appear in Event content and want it removed, email legal@genki.team. We will stop using material in which you are identifiable going forward; material that has already been published may remain where removal is not reasonably possible.
  • Content focused on you requires your consent. We use photos or videos in which you are individually recognizable and the focus of the image (for example a portrait, close-up or short clip of you) only if you have given your consent, for example by ticking the separate, optional photo consent box when registering. This consent is voluntary and not a condition for taking part. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing legal@genki.team, with effect for the future.
  • Interviews and paid ads. If you are featured prominently, for example in an interview or a testimonial, or if we want to use content focused on you in paid advertising, we will ask for your separate written release first.
  • Appearing in Genki content does not mean that you are a Genki customer, and Genki will not state or imply that you are one without your separate consent.
  • If you share Event content and tag @stay_genki, you allow Genki to repost and feature that content with your first name and handle on the same terms as described in this section.

8. Your data

How Genki processes personal data in connection with Events, including registration data, photos and video, and your rights, is explained in our Privacy Policy.

We do not ask for or record health information; the health notes in section 5 are a self-assessment you do not need to share with us. Event data is used only for the Event and Genki's community activities and is never used for insurance underwriting, pricing or claims handling. Newsletter emails are only sent if you tick the separate, optional opt-in box.

9. Games, contests and prizes

Some Events include a game or contest with a prize. The specific rules for each game are published on the Event page or registration form and apply in addition to these terms. Unless the game rules say otherwise: participation is free, Genki employees and freelancers and their household members cannot win, prizes cannot be exchanged for cash, and winners are responsible for any taxes on their prize.

10. Changes and cancellation

Genki may change the program, time or venue of an Event, or cancel it, for example due to weather, safety, low registration or reasons outside its control. We will inform registered participants by the contact details used for registration. Free Events give no right to compensation for cancellation or changes.

11. General

  • Events are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Luma, Meta/Instagram, Strava or Google.
  • Events have no connection to any Genki insurance policy; taking part does not affect any cover, premium or claim.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live still apply.
  • The laws of the place where an Event takes place also apply, in particular for safety, alcohol and traffic. You are responsible for complying with them.
  • If any provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force.
  • For participants who are not consumers, the courts of Cologne, Germany have exclusive jurisdiction.
