I highly recommend Genki for health insurance. I can't say I've ever had a good thing to say about an insurance company, but Genki is the exception and always impresses me. I think they have fair monthly premiums and they make it easy to file a claim and typically get back to me within 48 hours or less. I've never had an issue with getting my claims approved for hospital visits and it really helps having peace of mind knowing unexpected emergencies can be covered and I can visit any hospital.

3 months into our trip after signing up with Genki, we made our first claim due to my wife getting a gut illness that required a doc visit and comprehensive testing. Genki paid upon claim minus a small excess really easily and within a couple of days. Insurance is one of those things where trust needs to be earned and they have certainly done that. I was backpacking for a few months and needed something flexible and budget friendly. Genki offered just that. Thankfully I didn't have any serious medical situations, but when I did need to go to the doctor I received my money back the same day. The whole process was very simple and the support chat system very helpful. Only annoying part is that you pay the first 50 euro of any medical expense.

i broke my foot and had treatment in thailand (xrays, emergency room care, splint, boot, medicine, etc). my out of pocket costs was $333 USD. i took a screenshot of my medical plan, diagnosis, and bills clearly broken down. i had my refund within my bank account within the week. sooo much easier and straight-forward than i was anticipating during a stressful time, thank you Genki!
