You are covered for ambulance emergency transport to the nearest hospital that fits your medical needs. This includes road, air, water, and rail vehicles.

This is especially helpful when traveling in areas with limited healthcare access.
You are covered for prescribed medical examinations (like CT, ECG, EKG, MRI, PET, X‑ray), procedures (from minor treatment to major surgery), medication (like antibiotics & painkillers), materials and devices (like crutches, rental walkers & wheelchair).
Our 24/7 emergency assistance manages your inpatient treatment, organizes payments directly to your hospital, and carefully follows your treatment to ensure a high quality of care.
You are covered for almost all sports and activities, including climbing, cycling, diving, hiking, kitesurfing, mountain biking, martial arts, motor vehicle operations, parachuting, skydiving, skiing, snowboarding, and surfing.

If needed as a result of an accident, you are covered for basic dental care up to €1,000 per insurance case.

How Genki Traveler works
Genki Traveler is a monthly subscription for up to 12 months.
You can sign up from home or while traveling abroad.
Your insurance cover starts on the day you choose.
You pay for the first month of insurance cover when you sign-up.
After the first month of cover, we charge your card automatically every month.
You can cancel your insurance anytime after the first month.
If you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle, any remaining days are refunded automatically.
If you do not cancel, your insurance will end automatically after 12 months.
Good to know...
Genki Traveler is available for people from any country, up to age 69 at the start of the insurance cover.
Genki Traveler covers you for up to a maximum period of 12 months. It is very important to have some other long-term cover (like access to the national health system or private health insurance in your home country) that you can return to in case you need ongoing treatment when your Genki Traveler insurance ends.
You pay the first €50 per insurance case and the insurer pays the remainder.
For example, treatment for a dislocated shoulder in Bali costs €1,700. You pay €50 and your insurance reimburses the remaining €1,650.
There is no deductible for inpatient stays.
Cover in your home country is limited to emergencies only, during the first 6 weeks of each stay, after you have been abroad for at least 4 weeks.
By default, cover in Canada and the USA is limited to emergencies only, for the first 7 days of each stay, but you can choose to increase this cover (at sign up or for future months of your existing subscription) for an extra cost.
If you are already outside of your home country when your insurance starts and you have no prior coverage, only medical emergencies are covered for the first 14 days.
You are not covered for health conditions that showed symptoms, were diagnosed, treated, or medically consulted within one year before your insurance starts.
You are not covered for chronic conditions, congenital disorders, or physical malformations you knew about before your insurance starts.
You are not covered for:
- Dental health care (except for accidents)
- Alternative health care
- Mental health care
- Maternity care
- Rehabilitative care
- Preventive health care
If you would like to have this covered, travel health insurance is not the right choice for you. You are looking for international health insurance like Genki Native.
If you are brought back to your home country at the expense of the insurer (repatriation), your insurance ends immediately after you arrive at your destination. Health insurance or public health care in your home country will take over. You can decide to stay abroad.
For planned treatment or other costs of €1,000 or more, you must send the insurer an itemized cost estimate at least 5 days before the treatment starts. If you don't, only 50% of the covered costs will be reimbursed. This does not apply to hospital stays that our emergency assistance is already managing.
Genki Traveler is there for the unexpected. Treatment you can plan in advance – or that can safely wait until you're back home – isn't covered. That includes routine check-ups, cosmetic procedures and non-acute dental work. Rule of thumb: if it can wait until you're home, we don't cover it.
